Primary Holding
Under the Consumer Protection Act (1986 and 2019), a statutory appeal to the Supreme Court lies only against orders of the National Commission passed in its original jurisdiction; aggrieved parties challenging orders passed by the National Commission in its appellate or revisional jurisdiction must seek remedy before the High Court under Article 226 or Article 227 of the Constitution, and the Supreme Court should ordinarily not entertain direct special leave petitions under Article 136 where such alternative efficacious remedies remain available.
