O R D E R
1. Leave granted.
2. The present appeal challenges the order dated 27.07.2022
passed by the learned Single Judge of the High Court of
Judicature at Madras vide which the petition for quashing
proceedings initiated for defamation by the respondent was
rejected.
3. During the pendency of the present appeal, the matter
has been amicably settled between the parties.
4. The appellant has tendered an unconditional apology by
way of an affidavit dated 13.03.2023 and also withdrew the
personal comments made against the respondent.
5. The said apology has been accepted by the respondent.
6. Both the parties have filed a joint application praying
this Court to invoke its jurisdiction under Article 142 of
the Constitution of India to give an end to the criminal
proceedings.
7. Interlocutory Application No.142610 of 2023 is,

therefore, allowed in terms of the prayer clause (a) of the
application.
8. The Registry of this Court to draw a decree accordingly.
9. The appeal is, accordingly, disposed of. Pending
application(s), if any, shall stand disposed of.
