2. Leave granted.
3. This appeal is against the final order dated 17.05.2023
passed by the High Court of Judicature at Madras in Writ Appeal
No. 1108 of 2023.
4. The appellants filed a writ petition before the High Court
for a simple direction that their statutory appeal against the
Commissioner of Hindu Religious and Charitable and Endowments
dated 15.12.2017 must be disposed of expeditiously. The prayer
in the writ petition is as under: -
“Hon'ble court may be pleased issue a Writ of
Mandamus or any other writ of like nature
directing the first respondent to dispose of the
appeal dated 19-02-2018 filed by the petitioner
challenging the order dated 15-12-2017 Passed in
R.P.No.290 of 2017 the second respondent in
respect of the property bearing Old door No. 71,
New No. 175, Kodambakkam Road, Saidapet, Chennai

600 015 within the time frame and pass such
further or other order as this Hon'ble Court deem
fit and proper in the circumstances of the above
case and thus render justice.”
5. The learned Single Judge of the High Court by its order
