The prayer made in this petition is to release the petitioner on bail in FIR No.06/2019 under Sections 21(C)/29 of the of the Narcotic, Drugs and Psychotropics Substances Act, 1985, registered at Police Station Habra, West Bengal. The petitioner is in custody since 03.01.2019. 3. At the outset, learned counsel appearing on behalf of the respondent – State points out that in compliance of the directions issued by the High Court on 17.02.2022, the trial has been expedited and four out of ten witnesses have already been examined.
SLP(Crl.)No.3560/22 2 She further informs that the trial is likely to be completed by the end of November, 2022. In such circumstances, we deem it appropriate to dispose of the instant petition at this stage, without expressing any opinion on merits, with a direction to the learned Special Judge to make an endeavour to conclude the trial by 30.11.2022. 4. However, in the event of delay for some unforeseen reasons, the petitioner shall be at liberty to apply afresh to release him on bail. 5.
