2 UPON hearing the counsel, the Court made the following O R D E R Mr. Omkar Deshpande, learned counsel, appears for the State of Maharashtra, and seeks some more time to take necessary steps in relation to the 21 deceased respondents, whose numbers find mention in the office report dated 24.01.2023. Ms. Aparna Bhat, learned counsel, appears for some of the respondents in Civil Appeal No.6510/2016, and states that though service is complete in the appeal in which she is appearing, the matter is held up as it is linked to the other appeals wherein service is yet to be completed. She would point out that these matters, pertaining to the year 2016, relate to pay fixation of the respondents and the failure on the part of the State in taking necessary steps with regard to service of notice is delaying the adjudication of the cases on merits. In that view of the matter, given the fact that all the appeals are of the year 2016, one last opportunity is granted to the State to do the needful, not only in relation to the 21 identified deceased respondents, but also other respondents who may expire before the next date of hearing,

Leave granted in all the SLPs. The operation of the impugned judgments of the High Court shall remain stayed until further orders but we are informed that in one of the matter that is in Civil Appeal No.4008-4009/2014, since the orders of the High Court have been complied with by making necessary payments, therefore, we only observe that payment would be subject to the final result of the appeal. Having regard to the nature of the issue, its financial implications and having regard to the fact of its peculiar issue, we direct that all these appeals be listed for hearing in the third week of November, 2016 on a Non-Miscellaneous Day.
