IN THE SUPREME COURT OF INDIA INHERENT JURISDICTION CONTEMPT PETITION (CIVIL) DIARY NO. 10126 OF 2024 IN CIVIL APPEAL NO. 12329 OF 2024 PURUSOTHAMAN PETITIONER(S) VERSUS DR. R. SELVARAJ & ORS. ALLEGED CONTEMNOR(S)/ RESPONDENT(S) O R D E R 1. In view of the fact that the respondents have admittedly deposited a sum of Rs.71,60,82,306/- as against the claim of the petitioner to the tune of Rs.73,24,70,772/- and calculation in respect of the balance amount is being seriously disputed, we see no ground to continue with the contempt proceedings, which are accordingly disposed of. 2. As regard to the disputed amount, the petitioner shall be at liberty to approach the Reference Court and the said Court will determine the issue in accordance with law after hearing the parties. The petitioner has already approached the Reference Court for the release of the amount deposited by the respondents. The Reference Court is directed to pass an appropriate order within two weeks from today. 1
