The special leave petition is, accordingly, dismissed. As a sequel to the above, pending interlocutory application also stands disposed of. However, having regard to the totality of the facts and circumstances of the instant case, and more particularly the fact that there are 38 witnesses and even the first witness is yet to conclude her cross-examination, we direct the trial court to expedite the trial and conclude the same preferably within a period of one year from the date of receipt/production of a copy of this order.
